Dr Sithembile Ngidi (Practice no: 0675474) is a proud graduate of the University of Kwa Zulu Natal. She trained in Clinical and Radiation Oncology at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital and Addington Hospital and was awarded her fellowship by the College of Radiation Oncologists (CMSA). She received the MEC”s award of recognition and excellence when she became KZN’s first female black oncologist. She worked as a specialist at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital and Addington Oncology in 2015-2016 where she headed the Breast and Gynae Oncology units. She currently is in private practice in Johannessburg.
She is passionate about research and obtained her Masters in Medicine in 2016. Her research paper titled “INCIDENCE OF CHEMOTHERAPY INDUCED NEUTROPENIA BETWEEN HIV INFECTED AND UNINFECTED PATIENTS WITH BREAST CANCER RECEIVING NEOADJUVANT CHEMOTHERAPY” was published by the SAMJ in July 2017.
Dr Ngidi practices both medical and radiation oncology with special interests in Prostate Cancer, skin cancersHIV related cancers, brain tumours, breast, GIT cancers. She is passionate about prostate cancer and the latest treatment modalities like brachytherapy and IMRT.
She is a steering committee member of SAMRC/UKZN Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Centre and recently became a peer review panelist for the South African Oncology Consortium. Dr Ngidi is passionate about clinical research, continuous academic excellence and inter disciplinary holistic patient centered care.
